The Rieti area, thanks to its morphology rich in lakes, rivers, mountains and valleys, offers sporting opportunities for all tastes: from water sports, to trekking, to extreme sports. The Corpo experience is designed for lovers of outdoor activities.
Needless to say, there is no shortage of opportunities for trekking and hiking in the area, which offers numerous trails and paths, including those indicated in the parks, those marked by the CAI, religious paths, or even simpler walks in the woods and on the beautiful plateaus. And then Rieti with its Raul Guidobaldi stadium, which has hosted numerous athletics championships, Italian and European, is the home of athletics, and consequently strongly ties the area to this discipline. Indeed, running races are held in several municipalities, such as the 15,500-kilometer Sacred Valley race in Contigliano, which takes place in September.
In winter on the snow-capped peaks of Terminillo ski facilities open, many are the sportsmen who ski and ski-mountaineering there. Also on Mount Nuria, or on the plateau of Rascino, in the municipality of Fiamignano, you can do cross-country skiing or beautiful snowshoeing.
A destination for experienced climbers is the Falesia di Grotti in Cittaducale, among the most beautiful crags in Latium, surrounded by greenery.
The territory rich in heights and valleys is also perfect for paragliding. It is not uncommon, in fact, on a beautiful sunny day, to be flown over by some gliders….
Water sports are also popular in the area. Lake Salto was chosen from 2001 to 2020 by the FISW (Italian Water Ski and Wakeboard Federation) for the finals of the Italian Wakeboard Championship and in 2022 for the world championships. There it is possible to practice, in addition to wakeboarding, wakeskate and wakesurfing. On Lake Turano, on the other hand, wonderful canoe trips can be organized.
In the territory of Longone Sabino is the Fosso di Roccaranieri, where it is possible to practice canyoning and rafting. And then sport fishing, especially trout fishing, a typical fish and protagonist of traditional cuisine, is widespread and can be practiced in Lake Ventina, near Colli sul Velino, in Lake Rascino in Fiamignano, and in several small lakes in the territory of Amatrice, such as Lo Scoiattolo (Ponte a Tre Occhi locality).
